WHO WE ARE

Galia Solomonoff, AIA / Founder and Creative Director

Galia founded SAS/Solomonoff Architecture Studio in 2004, She is the firm's Creative Director. Before establishing SAS, Galia founded OpenOffice which run from 1999 to 2004. She also worked with Rem Koolhaas/OMA, Bernard Tschumi, and Rafael Vinoly. She has directed award-winning proposals for architectural and urban design competitions in Europe and the United States and received a National Endowment for the Arts grant. Galia is a Professor of Architecture Practice at Columbia University’s GSAPP, and has taught at The Cooper Union, RISD, Princeton University, and Yale University where she was honored with the Louis Kahn Junior Chair. Galia holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from City College CUNY, and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University; she is a licensed architect in the State of New York. SAS is certified M/WOB a minority and women-owned business. 

Randy Armas / Director

Randy joined SAS in 2019 and has worked on residential and institutional projects. Prior to joining SAS, he worked on institutional projects for Barkow Leibinger in Berlin and on residential projects at Kengo Kuma in Tokyo and Leroy Street Studio in New York. Randy holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University.

Zach Bundy / Designer

Zach joined SAS as a designer in 2021; since then, he has worked on multiple residential and commercial projects from the preliminary stage until completion. Before moving to New York for graduate school and joining SAS, he worked for three years on numerous institutional projects at BWS Architects in Arizona. Zach holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Arizona State University and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University with an Honor Award for Design and Technology.

Elena Martinoni / Designer

Elena joined SAS in 2021 with multidisciplinary experience across the fields of architecture and design. Prior to joining SAS, she worked on research and cultural projects for Andrea Caputo in Milan and residential projects for Daniel Romualdez Architects in New York. Elena holds a Bachelor of Architecture with Honors from Pratt Institute in New York.

Maclane Regan / Designer

Maclane joined SAS in 2023 with experience working in architecture and academia. Prior to joining SAS, she worked on residential and urban projects as a designer at Architensions in New York, institutional projects and publication at Ennead Architects, and engaged in critical cartographic initiatives as a research assistant at the Center for Spatial Research. She has held academic appointments at Columbia University’s GSAPP, where she is an associate faculty member. Maclane holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University where she received the Evans Simpson ‘88 M.ARCH Prize for Excellence in Design.
